Tonight's Topic - SQL Server vNext From Mark Souza, General Manager, Cloud and Enterprise Engineering Team at Microsoft (NDA Required!)

Mark has spent 20+ years with Microsoft SQL Server team. He started the SQLCAT team in 2000 and today manages the SQL Server, Developer Division and Azure Core CAT teams called AzureCAT. Mark’s CAT teams have designed, built and deployed most of the largest applications running on SQL Server worldwide and many of the largest Microsoft Azure projects in production. Mark’s style is to take the discussion for the user group in the direction the audience wants to take it. He will come prepared to discuss the following and more:

  • Share some real world experiences with Big Data – APS, Hadoop, etc. and where MSFT is going?
  • Talk about what the cloud means to the SQL Server world. Is it real? Is it time? What is different?
  • Share new engineering methodologies: new release cadence, developing with scale and HA up front, thinking about low cost during development, etc.
  • Bring your own topics!

He promises you will learn something you already didn’t know.

Expect this to be a very technical and very interesting presentation and discussion. Because Mark will be talking about strategy and feature of the next version of SQL Server, attendees must agree to not disclose information from the presentation.
